Last blog post!

So this is my last blog post before i graduate and move on with my life. I just want to say Culinary arts 3 has been the funnest class i have been involved in. I've gotten really close to all the girls in my class and i am going to miss all of them so much, they are like sisters. Mrs. Chatfield is defiantly my favorite teacher. She is always there when you need her and we always mess around. I'm going to miss her! New York was an awesome experience even though i was there for 2 days. I met some cool people and got my picture taken with quite a few military men :). Made a lot of awesome memories! I got to go to Ilili's which is an Lebanese restaurant, all the waiters where from different countries and that was pretty awesome. I met a guy on my plane from Romania and we still keep in touch. I graduate in 3 days, high school has zoomed on by. Looking back i would start it all over again, but that's so cliche. I'm more excited about the things that go on during my last week of school then graduation itself. I am excited to graduate to get out of here and to explore the world. I want to join the Army and serve my country because i think that is the smartest decision for kids of this generation to do in this economy and because i love my country.  I don't know when i will leave or when i will be able to visit, but its all part of the job and I'm excited for the experience and hard work that is ahead of me.

Update!!

So last week we did a couple different catering jobs. On March 4th we made 70 of each mini lemon and cranberry orange scones, chicken salad, curried egg salad, smoked salmon and cream cheese, and mint cucumber sandwiches, thumbprint cookies filled with lemon, mudslide cookies, rasberry tea cakes, and strawberry diamonds. I helped make tart shells for a wedding we had on March 12. I didn't get to help with anything else because i was sick. We all did a good job on working together. I'm proud of the girls for doing a good job finishing the job.

Update! :)

Since the last time I've updated we haven't been doing much. We've done some staff lunches and made cupcakes for people that ordered them for other people on Valentines Day, we had two choices chocolate or red velvet.

This dish was part of our final. Braised chicken thigh, garlic asparagus, and red mashed potatoes. Our second part was making cupcakes with ingredients from our country we were given. My country was Italy and i was given Nutella and instant coffee. We also had to put a center in the cupcakes, i stacked up bananas and put Nutella between everyone. I made a chocolate cupcakes and had butter cream frosting with instant coffee mixed in it.

Happy New Year :)!

It has been a long time since i have updated. Since November a lot has gone on, we sold around 250 pies as a fundraiser for New York, the pies we made were pumpkin, apple strudel,  pecan, chocolate mouse, and pumpkin cheese cake. We catered to a HCOE christmas part where we made 42 dozen cookies. We also catered to many different staff lunches, had a scone sale, and made some gingerbread houses. We did a great job with everything we did and worked together as a team, that's all you can really ask for. We also did a Serve Safe class in November, it was hard work, but a good learning experience. Now we are working on a project about a certain Country, we had to learn about the food history, street foods, herbs, spices, and we have a make a dish or dessert. My country is Italy :)

Updatee :)

This last week and weekend was quite busy for us. On Tuesday some class mates and i went to the HROP office and delivered some lunch. We made chicken ceasar wraps, butternut squash soup, oroz salad, and some Holloween cupcakes, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting, vanillla cupcake with carmel buttercream, pumkin cupcake with maple cream cheese frosting . Last weekend some class mates and i went to Eureka to cater a wedding. We made a lemon curd cake, chesse plater, veggie plater, humus dip with pita chips, carmalized onion topped with gorgonzola, salad and soughdough with curried egg salad with salmon on top. It was a really fun experiance and got to know some cool people. It was my first time doing a pearl border around the base and on each layer on the cake. It was really nerve racking because it was my first time and it was at the wedding so if i messed up it would be on me.

Update

On Friday we made Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and vanilla cupcakes with caramel buttercream frosting with a fondant disk and a frosting paw print frosting. We sold them to staff from our school and an elementary school not far from us. We didnt make staff lunches because last week was homecoming and we had really short class periods. We sold about 85 cupcakes.

Reflection!

Last Friday we made staff luches that included cous cous, chicken or tofu scewers, and an a honey walnut cupcake with honey buttercream frosting with a baklava treat and a fondant honey bee. It was really fun working together to get the lunch done, it was a challenge, but really fun we defiantly worked as a team. It would have been better if half the class didnt have to go to Freshman Academy work shop cause im sure we made it hard for the girls that had to stay, but all together it was really good and went smooth.
Here are some picture from last weeks staff lunch...
